Anwar: Govt to strengthen Islamic education in Kelantan

KOTA BARU: The government will continue to strengthen Islamic education in Kelantan through various forms of financial assistance, improvements to institutional facilities and support for traditional religious studies.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said various initiatives were being implemented to ensure Islamic educational institutions in the state received appropriate support, including assistance for religious schools and pondok institutions.

He said the government must make the best use of the trust and authority entrusted to it to ensure people benefited from development, regardless of their background.

“In 2025, the government provided an additional RM9.36 million to 23 Islamic educational institutions in Kelantan, while RM6.62 million was approved this year for another 42 institutions.

“I am aware of the trust placed in me, and I know that my position is limited.

“So, while I have the opportunity and authority, I want to do my best so that people see a government led by Muslims as one that is fair and wise, and that does its best to raise the standing of the people and the country,” he said.

He was speaking at the Sebarkan Salam and Kota Baru Berselawat event at Dataran Muhammadi here.

Also present were Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan.
