Clean-up assistance, aid given to Kampung Melayu Subang flood victims

KUALA LUMPUR: Clean-up operations are underway for flood victims in Kampung Melayu Subang following the latest flash floods, the fourth such incident in the area within 30 days.

Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Ramanan Ramakrishnan, who is also Sungai Buloh member of parliament, aid was also in the works for affected residents.

He said a temporary relief centre (PPS) had been opened while cleaning operations at affected homes were being carried out.

“The prime minister himself went down yesterday to visit the victims to ensure that all assistance was provided immediately,” he said.

Ramanan said the government was also looking at expediting the construction of a retention pond to address the recurring flash floods as the frequency of the incidents was a cause for concern.

He said the authorities would continue coordinating assistance for affected residents while efforts were being made to find a longer-term solution to the flooding problem.
