Four people were taken to the Singapore General Hospital after a fire broke out at a Housing and Development Board (HDB) block in Serangoon on Tuesday (Sept 1) afternoon.The incident happened at about 2.45pm in a third-floor unit at Block 8 Lorong Lew Lian, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said in a Facebook post that evening.SCDF said that the fire, which involved the contents in the unit’s living room, was put out using a water jet.”During the firefighting operation, an unconscious person was found in the living room. Firefighters brought the person out of the unit and commenced cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR),” SCDF said.The person was subsequently taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, along with three others, who were assessed for smoke inhalation and breathlessness. About 30 people were evacuated from the affected block by police and SCDF officers as a safety precaution.The cause of the fire is under investigation.[[nid:743880]]editor@asiaone.com
