Kobay profit jumps 73pct on revenue growth

KUALA LUMPUR: Kobay Technology Bhd’s net profit surged 73.3 per cent to RM18.65 million for the first quarter ended Sept 30, 2026 (Q1 FY27) from RM10.76 million in the corresponding quarter last year.

Its revenue rose 17.5 per cent to RM130.24 million from RM110.88 million in the previous corresponding quarter.

The engineering solutions provider said the stronger performance was primarily driven by its manufacturing division, which benefited from continued expansion in the semiconductor industry.

Its revenue from the manufacturing division increased 33.7 per cent year-on-year to RM96.3 million, accounting for 73.9 per cent of the group’s total revenue.

Its pre-tax profit jumped 70.5 per cent to RM21 million from RM12.3 million a year earlier, supported by a higher sales mix of higher-margin products.

Kobay managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Koay said the group recorded its highest quarterly net profit since its listing, surpassing the previous peak of RM15.1 million achieved in the third quarter of FY22.

He added that orders secured from the semiconductor industry had improved revenue visibility and were expected to support the group’s performance in the coming months.

The group will also focus on improving capacity utilisation, operational efficiency and cost optimisation, while pursuing new customer opportunities and expanding its product and service offerings.

On a quarter-on-quarter basis, revenue remained relatively stable at RM130.2 million against RM131.8 million in the preceding quarter, while net profit increased 74 per cent from RM12.5 million.
