AYER MOLEK: Every political party had the right to present its proposals to voters through an election manifesto, Melaka Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said.
Rauf, who is also caretaker chief minister, said BN and its partners had chosen to base their manifesto on realities and the actual needs identified through direct feedback from the grassroots.
“I have said before that every party has the right to present its aspirations in its manifesto. But we translate the realities and findings gathered through the Wakil Rakyat Untuk Rakyat (WRUR) programme into policies.
“These policies will be presented in our manifesto and serve as a guide when we administer the state. I do not want to debate what others can do or whether they can do better than us. We, too, can do our best for the people,” he told reporters after visiting the BN operations room for the Ayer Molek constituency here today.
Ab Rauf was commenting on the launch of Pakatan Harapan’s manifesto, which outlined 12 key aspirations for the people, earlier today.
He said each political coalition had its own approach and ideology in formulating its manifesto.
“They have their way, and we have ours. Each has its own political ideology. We remain firm in our stance, approach and style, and will prove that we, too, can deliver the best for the people,” he said.
It was previously reported that, Ab Rauf said BN would unveil its manifesto for the Melaka election about 3pm this Friday.
He also expressed hope that the current political understanding among the parties could be sustained through to the 16th General Election.
