Melaka to have 300 EV charging units by next year

MELAKA: Melaka aims to have 300 electric vehicle (EV) charging units by 2027 as it steps up efforts to strengthen infrastructure to support the growing automotive industry.

Caretaker Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ab Rauf Yusoh said the state currently had 195 EV charging units across 95 locations, with another 10 units planned by the end of this year.

He said the expansion reflected the state government’s commitment to providing the infrastructure and ecosystem needed to attract investments and support the development of next-generation mobility technologies.

“Melaka has established industrial areas, modern infrastructure, good connectivity, a skilled workforce and a growing network of local suppliers.

“These give manufacturers the confidence to invest, innovate and grow in Melaka,” he said at the roll-off ceremony for the locally assembled GWM WEY G9 HEV and EC15S HEV at EP Manufacturing Bhd’s (EPMB) facility in Pegoh here today.
