JASIN: Johor Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi has urged non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and political leaders in the state to lodge police reports against Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar.
Onn Hafiz, who is also Johor Menteri Besar, said the Attorney-General’s Chambers’ (A-GC) directive to delay the implementation of the house arrest order involving former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was tantamount to an act of defiance against the Royal Institution.
“What the Attorney-General has stated is, in our view, an act of defiance against the Royal Institution.
“I urge NGOs in Johor to come forward in large numbers to defend the Ruler and the Royal Institution.
“This is to ensure that no party exploits any Royal Institution to deny the rights of the Malay Rulers,” he said.
Onn Hafiz said he would leave it to the authorities to decide on the next course of action.
“Based on the police reports lodged, investigation papers should certainly be opened and investigations conducted by the police. After that, we leave it to the law to take its course,” he said.
He was speaking to reporters after attending the Apa Kabau Orang Melaka programme at Pantai Siring, Kampung Pulai, here today.
Also present was BN candidate for Serkam Datuk Azman Abdullah.
In a separate statement, Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh said the movement would lodge police reports over the delay in implementing the house arrest order involving Najib.
He said the reports, to be lodged at state and divisional levels, would enable the authorities to investigate whether there had been any breach of the law in implementing the royal decree and court order.
Earlier today, several Pontian Umno leaders, led by division chief Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Maslan, lodged a police report over the delay in implementing the house arrest order at the Benut police station in Pontian, Johor.
The move came after Umno demanded the immediate implementation of Najib’s house arrest order and action against anyone who defied the decree issued by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.
