Shuhaily continues work as MCBA DG, visits Sarawak-Indonesia border

KUCHING: Despite the controversy surrounding him, Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain is carrying out his duties as Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency (MCBA) director-general.

He visited Sarawak today, specifically to inspect several strategic locations along the Malaysia-Indonesia border in the Serian-Tebedu sector.

MCBA, in a social media post, said the visit was aimed at assessing operational readiness and strengthening security controls along the country’s borders.

During the brief visit, Shuhaily, who resumed duties on Monday, went to the Bunan Gega border control post and the General Operations Force (GOF) control post in Mongkos.

He also visited the Tebedu Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex, which serves as the main entry and exit point between Sarawak and West Kalimantan in Indonesia.

The visit also focused on enforcement capabilities and the challenges faced by officers on the ground in ensuring effective border control.

Shuhaily also reviewed measures to improve the border monitoring system to curb illegal cross-border activities.

Coordination among enforcement agencies was also given attention to ensure that border control operations are carried out in a more integrated and effective manner.

During his visit to the Tebedu ICQS Complex, Shuhaily inspected operational readiness and the effectiveness of existing border control measures.

The visit also provided an opportunity to identify operational issues and shortcomings requiring improvement to enhance enforcement effectiveness.
