Zahid denies sabotaging Madani government over Sabah, Sarawak projects

JASIN: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has denied allegations that he attempted to sabotage the Madani government over the status of rural development projects in Sabah and Sarawak.

Zahid, who is also rural and regional development minister, maintained that his remarks on the suspension or cancellation of letters of acceptance for the projects were factual.

He added that he was prepared to produce official documents to prove his claims.

“I had no such intention (to sabotage the government). Whether the projects have been postponed or cancelled, the fact remains that there were instructions to cancel all SSTs that have been or are due to be issued.

“I have documentary evidence of the instructions. I can show it,” he said to reporters after officiating the Mara Higher Education and TVET Tour 2026 programme here today.

Yesterday, Jelutong member of parliament RSN Rayer, while interjecting during a debate in the Dewan Rakyat, questioned Zahid’s remarks concerning the cancellation of the rural development projects, describing them as an attempt to sabotage the Madani government.

Rayer described the remarks as an attempt to sabotage the MADANI Government.
