KULAI: Thirteen business premises operated by foreigners in Bandar Senai were ordered to close, while another 10 were issued warnings over possible licence revocation in an enforcement operation.
Johor housing and local government committee chairman Datuk Jafni Md Shukor said the Oct 29 operation was aimed at ensuring businesses complied with licensing conditions and regulations.
He said strict enforcement was necessary to protect public interests and maintain an orderly and competitive business environment in Johor.
“Every business operator is responsible for ensuring their premises comply with approved licence conditions and all directives issued by the authorities.
“Business licences come with obligations that must be observed. Any breach of licensing conditions must be rectified, with further action taken in accordance with the law,” he said.
The operation involved the Kulai Municipal Council, Immigration Department, Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry, Companies Commission of Malaysia, Kulai police and the District Health Office.
Jafni said inspections covered business licensing, immigration, business registration, trade and public health, with each agency acting within its respective jurisdiction.
He said the state government would continue coordinated enforcement to ensure a fair business environment and protect consumers and traders who complied with the law.
He added that follow-up inspections would be conducted to ensure the closure orders were observed and that premises issued warnings took the necessary corrective action.
