6 drivers nabbed for illegal cross-border rides at checkpoints, Changi Airport and Yew Tee; all vehicles impounded

Six drivers were nabbed during Land Transport Authority (LTA) enforcement operations against illegal cross-border ride-hailing services.In a Facebook post on Thursday (Sept 17), LTA said that the drivers were caught based on tip-offs from the National Private Hire Vehicles Association and National Taxi Association at the land checkpoints, Changi Airport and Yew Tee.All the drivers also had their vehicles impounded, said LTA. According to Senior Minister of State for Transport Sun Xueling, the recent enforcement efforts bring the total number of cars impounded since July 2025 to 247, with over 5,400 vehicles checked. LTA reminded commuters to book only licensed cross-border ride-hailing services on Grab or have Singapore-registered cross-border taxis pick them up anywhere in Singapore, for drop-off  in Johor Bahru, Iskandar Puteri, Forest City, Kulai and Senai.If found providing illegal ride-hailing services, drivers may face maximum fines of $3,000, a jail term of up to six months, and possible vehicle forfeiture.
