KUALA LUMPUR: The Attorney-General’s Chambers (A-GC) has denied delaying its review of an investigation paper into Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim’s claim that he was forced to sign a proclamation to remove the state ruler.
Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar said the police inquiry paper was referred to the A-GC on Sept 29 and returned to the police on Oct 7.
He said police then reclassified the inquiry paper as an investigation paper to allow investigations to be conducted under Section 506 of the Penal Code.
“The investigation paper opened under Section 506 of the Penal Code was only referred to the AGC on Friday (Oct 30) and is now being reviewed by the AGC,” he said when contacted.
Dusuki said the AGC maintained that there had been no delay on its part in reviewing the inquiry paper or investigation papers submitted by the police.
The New Straits Times had earlier reported that Cha Kee Chin (PH-Rasah) had questioned the A-GC’s delay in deciding on the investigation paper concerning Ismail’s police report.
