Chocolate faces more climate shocks as study highlights risk of extreme rainfall

As West African cocoa farmers feel the pain of drought, aging trees and competition for farmland, new research out of Harvard says extreme rain is an under-appreciated danger — often hammering flowering trees and younger pods.
