Court order for Najib’s house arrest to reach Kajang Prison today

KUALA LUMPUR: A court order allowing Datuk Seri Najib Razak to serve the remainder of his prison sentence under house arrest will be delivered to Kajang Prison immediately following Umno’s payment of his RM50 million fine.

Najib’s lawyer, Muhammad Farhan Muhammad Shafee, said the High Court had issued the order pursuant to the royal pardon following completion of the payment this morning.

“We have that order, and we will be delivering it to Kajang Prison right now,” he told reporters today.

He said further procedures needed to be completed before Najib could be released from prison and placed under house arrest.

The lawyer said he expected the process to be completed today, provided everything proceeded according to plan.

He declined to take further questions, saying a comprehensive press statement would be issued once the process was completed.

Meanwhile, Farhan said a press conference would be held at Langgak Duta today if all procedures were completed as planned.
