KUALA LUMPUR: Moto3 rookie Hakim Danish Ramli settled for a second row start for tomorrow’s Qatar Grand Prix as Qabil Irfan Azlan secured his second race win of the season in the Moto4 Asia Cup today.
Danish (Aeon Credit-MT Helmets-MSI) clocked two minutes and 3.168s under the floodlights to place seventh in the qualifying two group, +0.880s adrift of poleman Maximo Quiles (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar) who clocked a solid 2:02.288s at the Lusail International Circuit.
Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP’s David Almansa (+0.155s) and Red Bull KTM’s Brian Uriarte (+0.495s) rounded out the front row in the lightweight class.
Danish had booked his spot in the Q2 group after placing fourth in yesterday’s practice.
The 19-year-old placed fourth at last week’s Malaysian GP.
In the Moto4 Asia Cup, Qabil Irfan Azlan emerged victorious in an action-packed race one after edging Indonesia’s Resky Yusuf and Japan’s Waku Kunitate, who settled for second and third respectively.
Qabil had also won race one at the Malaysian round at Sepang last week.
The other Malaysian riders suffered mixed fortunes in the race. Qayyim Razin Razali settled for 10th overall after being handed a three second penalty while Naqib Rifqi Zulhelmi crashed out of the race.
Race two will be held tomorrow.
