Drain overflow causes flash floods in Taman Sri Muda — Fire and Rescue Dept

SHAH ALAM: Overflowing drains caused flash floods in several areas around Section 25, Taman Sri Muda, Jalan Kebun, Kampung Baru Hicom in Section 26 and Section 13 here today.

Heavy rain from 3.15pm caused water to accumulate in several flood-prone areas.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the Shah Alam Fire and Rescue Station reported that water levels were beginning to recede after the rain stopped.

“Selangor Fire and Rescue Department personnel are continuing to monitor flood-prone locations, and no evacuations have been carried out in the affected areas,” he told the media.

He advised residents to remain cautious amid unpredictable weather conditions.

Photographs shared by the department showed floodwaters reaching about halfway up the tyres of cars in Taman Sri Muda and Kampung Baru Hicom between 3.48pm and 3.57pm, before beginning to recede shortly afterwards.
