Flash floods close both directions of NKVE between Shah Alam, Setia Alam

KUALA LUMPUR: Both directions of the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) between Shah Alam and Setia Alam have been temporarily closed after flash floods rendered a stretch of the highway impassable this evening.

Plus Malaysia Bhd said the closure involved both carriageways between Kilometre 9.1 and KM9.4, following heavy rain around 6.20pm.

As an immediate safety measure, southbound traffic from Subang was being diverted off the NKVE via the North-South Expressway Central Link (Elite).

“Meanwhile, northbound vehicles from Bukit Raja are being diverted off the NKVE at the Setia Alam Interchange,” it said in a statement.

Highway users are advised to refer to Plus’ official communication channels — X account @PLUSTrafik, the PLUS app, Variable Message Signs (VMS), Plus’ virtual assistant PUTRI, and its official social media platforms – for the latest updates on weather and flood conditions, as well as alternative routes.

Motorists are also advised not to drive through floodwaters, as even water that appears shallow can cause vehicle engines to stall or vehicles to be swept away by strong currents.

“Please comply with all temporary signage and instructions given by our personnel at the location,” Plus said.

For immediate assistance, highway users can contact PlusLine at 1-800-88-0000, use the SOS button on the Plus app or interact with Plus’ virtual assistant, PUTRI.
