Heavy rain triggers flash floods across Klang Valley

KUALA LUMPUR: Heavy rain across the Klang Valley this afternoon caused water levels to rise along several roads, triggering flash floods in multiple areas.

Social media users shared videos and pictures of rising water levels in Denai Alam, Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI), Bukit Jalil, USJ and along the Federal Highway near Amcorp Mall.

Several videos showed vehicles making their way through floodwaters, while heavy rain reduced visibility for motorists.

In Denai Alam, Threads user @iskandarsukandar said several motorists were forced to turn back because of the road conditions.

“What happened in Denai Alam? Everyone is turning back and driving against the traffic. Is Denai Alam flooded?” the user said in a Threads post.

Another user, @kiti.ss, who also tagged Denai Alam as the location, said motorists attempting to enter the area from the Damansara-Shah Alam Expressway (DASH) were forced to turn back.

“After the traffic lights, those entering Denai Alam from DASH have to turn back. Please be careful, everyone,” the user said.

Meanwhile, @afiff_15 shared a video showing flooded roads along the route from Johawaki towards Caltex Denai Alam.

Similar conditions were reported in TTDI, where user @frssya__ shared pictures of several vehicles making their way through a flooded road.

In Bukit Jalil, user @cik_kiyut said water had begun accumulating on the road while travelling towards Puchong.

“The road is starting to flood. May everything go smoothly for everyone and may you reach your destinations safely. Bukit Jalil, on the way to Puchong,” the user said.

Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds was also reported in USJ 9.

Threads user @nasilemakanggerik said the winds were so strong that they could be felt even inside a vehicle.

“Heavy rain with stormy winds. Even inside the car, it felt as though it was about to be lifted. Please be careful, everyone. In front of Rosyam Mart, USJ 9,” the user said.

Rising water levels were also reported along the Federal Highway near Amcorp Mall, where user @slmanfrish shared a video showing vehicles travelling through a waterlogged stretch.
