Malaysian GP: Danish starts strong to secure Q2 berth

SEPANG: Despite struggling for form in recent rounds, Moto3 rookie Hakim Danish Ramli did not disappoint his fans on the opening day of the Petronas Grand Prix of Malaysia on Friday.

Danish clocked a solid two minutes and 11.57 seconds to place fourth (+0.146s) in the afternoon practice session and subsequently secure his place in Saturday’s qualifying two (Q2) group, which is for the top-14 riders from Friday.

Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP’s David Almansa topped the session on 2:11.42s with Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Rico Salmela (+0.069s) and Honda Team Asia’s Veda Pratama (+0.092s) rounding out the top three.

Danish had earlier today placed fifth in free practice one (FP1) after clocking 2:11.834s.
