Maxis Q3 net profit rose 8.5pct, declared 4.5 sen dividend

KUALA LUMPUR: Maxis Bhd’s net profit rose 8.5 per cent to RM447 million in the third quarter ended Sept 30, 2026, from RM412 million a year earlier, driven by higher revenue and stronger performance in its consumer business segment.

Maxis declared a third interim single-tier dividend of 4.5 sen per ordinary share for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2026 (FY26), payable on Dec 22. Cumulatively, Maxis had declared a total 12.5 sen so far for FY26, compared with 12.0 sen during the same period last year.

“Our third quarter performance reflects the strength of our operating model and converged strategy,” said its chief executive officer Goh Seow Eng. “Disciplined execution continues to drive healthy cash generation, enabling the board to declare an interim dividend of 4.5 sen per share,” he said.

Revenue increased 3.7 per cent year on year to RM2.68 billion from RM2.59 billion, supported by a 1.1 per cent growth in service revenue and higher device sales, its Bursa Malaysia filing showed.

Maxis said its consumer business revenue grew 1.3 per cent year on year to RM1.85 billion, mainly driven by its postpaid segment.

Postpaid revenue rose 2.8 per cent year on year to RM979 million, supported by a 4.4 per cent increase in its subscription base to 4.27 million subscribers, following targeted customer acquisition strategies across various segments.

However, average revenue per user (ARPU) continued to decrease to RM70.10 during the quarter, compared with RM70.80 in the corresponding quarter in 2025 (Q3 FY25) and RM70.50 in the second quarter (Q2 FY26).

Meanwhile, prepaid revenue declined marginally by 0.8 per cent to RM611 million, partly due to the implementation of new prepaid registration guidelines. Prepaid ARPU increased to RM36.30, compared with RM35.80 in Q3 FY25 and RM35.60 in Q2 FY26.

For the nine months ended Sept 30, 2026, net profit increased 10.1 per cent to RM1.3 billion from RM1.18 billion, while revenue grew 4.0 per cent to RM8.07 billion from RM7.76 billion.

Goh said Maxis’ full year guidance remains firmly on track. The group expects low single-digit growth in both service revenue and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation for FY26.

The group also expects capital expenditure intensity to be about 10 per cent of total revenue.

“We thank the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission for the recent spectrum award of an additional 2x10MHz in the 2,600 MHz band. Together with our network modernisation and AI initiatives, this will further elevate customer experience sustainable growth,” said Goh.
