ALOR GAJAH: Development in Taboh Naning, particularly in education and infrastructure, must be sustained to ensure the peopple continue to benefit from improvements in the area.
Caretaker Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the progress achieved under previous leaders should be carried forward by the current leadership and passed on to future generations.
He said facilities established through the efforts of past leaders, including Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), Universiti RISDA and Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM), were part of the area’s development legacy.
Infrastructure improvements were also being prioritised, with RM36 million allocated for a road-widening project along the route to the Simpang Ampat toll plaza.
Ab Rauf said the project was expected to ease congestion for motorists travelling towards the toll plaza, particularly those heading to Kuala Lumpur.
“Before long, we should see a reduction in congestion along this road leading to the Simpang Ampat toll plaza and Kuala Lumpur.
“I cannot guarantee that it will solve the problem completely because when the road gets wider, more people will come.
“But when more people come, they will contribute, bring goods and stay here, creating economic opportunities for the people of Melaka,” he said.
He was speaking at a breakfast programme with residents at Gerai Kak Ros here.
Rauf said the responsibility of continuing the area’s development had now been passed on to the current leadership, including Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Zulkiflee Mohd Zin, whom he referred to as Acik Zul.
“All these facilities are here because of the efforts of our previous leaders, and the responsibility has now been passed on to us to continue their work.
“I, in turn, am passing that responsibility to Acik Zul (Datuk Zulkiflee Mohd Zin) in Taboh Naning to look after the community,” he said.
He said development should be regarded as a responsibility to ensure that progress benefited not only current residents but also future generations.
