JASIN: Barisan Nasional candidate for Sungai Rambai, Jezlee Pit, has unveiled a five-year development plan, dubbed Mewajah Sungai Rambai Lima Tahun, to accelerate development in the area and improve residents’ socioeconomic well-being.
The plan outlines several initiatives to be prioritised over the next five years, including three key proposals: establishing a new township in Sungai Rambai, developing an integrated recreational park and building a mini integrated sports complex.
Jezlee, better known as Tok Jez, said the three proposals were among his priorities, which he hoped to pursue in collaboration with the local community and government departments to ensure Sungai Rambai continued to develop and provide better facilities for its residents.
“The plan is not solely focused on new developments but also includes efforts to upgrade and make better use of existing public facilities to ensure they are utilised to their full potential.
“I believe these initiatives can be realised if BN is returned to power in the Melaka polls, with the support of all parties, including residents, government departments and agencies,” he said.
Jezlee, who is also Jasin Umno division secretary, was speaking to reporters while campaigning with Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Maslan at Kampung Seri Mendapat here today.
He said the development programme was expected to transform Sungai Rambai into a more advanced and competitive area without compromising its identity and unique character as an agricultural hub, particularly for padi cultivation, which remained a source of livelihood and part of the local community’s heritage.
“Through this plan, I have set a five-year target for implementing development initiatives to ensure people in the area enjoy a comfortable and harmonious life.
“The plan will serve as a guide for the development initiatives I intend to carry out, while the election manifesto will be based on BN’s state-level manifesto,” he said.
Jezlee said another priority was to revitalise underutilised public facilities, including by exploring suitable economic and business activities to prevent them from becoming white-elephant projects.
“We want to upgrade existing facilities, including the Rural Transformation Centre, which appears underutilised, by bringing in suitable public sector services or businesses.
“We do not want these public facilities to become white elephants,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ahmad, who is also deputy works minister, is confident that Jezlee could continue efforts to ensure the proposed RM43.3 million Sungai Rambai Health Clinic project was realised.
Ahmad said Jezlee could build on the groundwork laid by his predecessors to push for the construction of the Type 3 health clinic, which was awaiting approval from the Health Ministry.
The proposed clinic, to be built on a three-hectare site along Jalan Parit Putat in Sungai Rambai, aims to provide more comfortable and quality healthcare facilities that meet the needs of the local population.
He said the proposed clinic was among the initiatives pursued by the Melaka government through former Sungai Rambai assemblyman Datuk Siti Faizah Abd Azis to improve healthcare facilities for people in the area.
Ahmad said Jezlee’s experience as a former penghulu in Sungai Rambai and Merlimau, as well as his previous role as Melaka Penghulu Council chairman, had given him an understanding of the needs of the local community.
“I am confident that our former penghulu can carry this forward and continue the efforts to ensure the project is realised,” he said.
