Melaka polls: BN uses 2021 manifesto record as benchmark for new pledges

AYER KEROH: Melaka Barisan Nasional has fulfilled 97 per cent of the pledges made in its manifesto for the 2021 state election.

State BN chairman Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the achievement would serve as a benchmark for the state government in assessing the effectiveness and delivery of its future commitments to the people.

The caretaker Melaka chief minister said the achievement demonstrated the state government’s commitment to ensuring that election promises were not merely political pledges but translated into tangible results through transparent and accountable governance.

“For the record, based on a review of our previous manifesto covering the 2021 to 2026 period, we have fulfilled 97 per cent of the pledges made during the last state election.

“This serves as an important benchmark for us to continue evaluating our performance and ensuring that new pledges are implemented transparently and responsibly.

“The manifesto has one clear objective, which is to ensure that Melaka’s development translates into tangible benefits that improve the lives of its people,” he said.

He was speaking at a press conference after launching the joint BN and Perikatan Nasional manifesto for the Melaka election here.

Meanwhile, Ab Rauf said the manifesto marked the first collaboration between BN and PN, reflecting a joint effort that he hoped would lead to electoral success on Nov 14.

He said both coalitions had held several meetings to exchange views and ideas before reaching a consensus on the pledges presented in the manifesto.

“We held several meetings, exchanged views and ideas, and eventually reached the consensus that we presented earlier.

“This is certainly our first joint manifesto and also marks the beginning of our cooperation.

“We hope this joint effort will translate into a shared victory on Nov 14,” he said.
