GEORGE TOWN: Penang civil servants will receive a special financial assistance equivalent to one month’s salary, payable in December, the state legislative assembly was told today.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the incentive was a token of appreciation for the dedication and integrity demonstrated by the state public sector workforce.
“The state’s fiscal strength and development achievements could not have been attained without the backing of an efficient, high-integrity and high-performing administrative machinery,” he said when tabling the 2027 Penang Budget.
“As a token of appreciation to all members of the state civil service, I am pleased to announce a special financial assistance of one month’s salary,” he added.
Chow said one-off payments of RM300 would also be given to supervisors and teachers of Quran and Fardu Ain (Kafa) classes, staff of Islamic religious primary and secondary schools, government-aided religious schools, tahfiz and pondok institutions.
This also includes staff in Islamic kindergartens, as well as teachers and staff of Chinese private schools in Penang.
The payments would cost the state RM16.207 million and benefit 7,292 recipients.
