TAIPEI: Actor Michael Yang has been dubbed a “control freak” by his wife, model Chloe Qin, after she revealed that he even dictates when she should take a shower.
The couple breached the topic of controlling behaviour during a recent appearance on the Taiwanese variety show Dee Girls Talk.
Yang, 40, even wore a label reading “control king” throughout the segment.
Qin, 41, shared that her husband often interrupts her relaxation time if he feels she is taking too long to get ready for bed.
“You know when you want to relax a bit and watch a drama? You’ve just finished one episode and are about to start the second, but he presses pause,” she said.
“He would personally walk over, pause the show and tell me: ‘Go and shower, what time is it already?’” she added, explaining that 10pm felt plenty early enough to catch another episode before bathing.
She noted that if she tried to keep watching, Yang would simply switch off the television, leaving her no choice but to follow his timetable.
Interrupting her story, Yang defended his habit by declaring: “I think 10.30pm is already the latest time one should shower.”
His comment left the studio audience and panellists stunned. “Who made that rule?” one guest asked, while another wondered aloud if their household was being run like a boot camp.
Yang later addressed the reaction in an Instagram post, writing: “Life can be flexible, but without rules, how can there be any flexibility?”
Online responses were split. Some social media users backed his focus on discipline, noting that genuine freedom stems from self-discipline and that regular routines help give children a sense of security.
Others felt his strict rules crossed the line into micromanaging his wife’s daily life.
The couple married in 2012 and have an eight-month-old daughter, nicknamed Xiao Xue Bao.
