#SHOWBIZ: Christy Chung’s teen daughter Cayla turns heads: Is a showbiz career next?

HONG KONG: Actress Christy Chung’s youngest daughter, Cayla Zhang, has been turning heads with her striking good looks, and it is easy to see why.

Standing at an impressive 173cm, the 16-year-old already boasts a formidable online following, with 240,000 followers on Instagram and over 300,000 on Xiaohongshu — a remarkable feat for someone who is still at school.

Cayla recently attended a high-profile fashion event in Hong Kong, looking every bit like a real-life Barbie in a stylish pink strapless dress, 8Days reported.

Her famous 56-year-old mother was present to cheer her on.

Clips of Cayla at the event quickly went viral, prompting netizens to shower her with praise.

One admirer commented, “Even as a woman, I’m mesmerised by her,” while another noted she resembled a Korean cosmetics model.

Others went further, declaring her “just as beautiful as her mum was back in the day” and hailing her as one of the most stunning second-generation stars around.

With her height, beauty, and rapidly expanding fanbase, an official step into showbiz would seem like the natural next move. But the teenager is in no rush.

Speaking to Hong Kong media, the Beijing-raised high-schooler said she still has two years of school left before university.

“I think it’s a little too early to say. I’m only 16, and I don’t think I’m particularly mature yet. I’ll wait until I’m older before deciding what direction I want to take,” Cayla shared, adding that her mother supports her independence. “Mum told me it’s entirely up to my interests. If I want to pursue it, I can work hard towards it myself.”

While Cayla admits that singing isn’t her calling and remains undecided about acting, she genuinely enjoys modelling.

Having previously walked the runway for a children’s designer brand in 2019 alongside her older sister Jaden, she thrives on dressing up and posing for photos.

Christy, who shares Cayla and Jaden, 18, with her second ex-husband Jon Yen, revealed that her daughter actually filmed a production at six years old, though it was never released.

As for her daughter’s future, Christy noted that while Cayla is keen on studying business, she would happily let her try acting if the right role or project came along.
