KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Datin Lisa Surihani believes singer-actor Alif Satar played a key role in her invitation to perform the haj, calling the opportunity an unexpected blessing she holds dear.
Lisa shared her reflections during an experience-sharing session today organised by haj and umrah agency Irkaz Travel, titled Kerana Dia Memanggil (Sebuah Perjalanan, Seribu Makna) Mekah, Aku Datang.
While she had initially hoped to make the holy pilgrimage alongside her husband, director and musician Datuk Yusry Abdul Halim, Lisa eventually came to peace with their separate journeys.
”At first, it was difficult because we had prayed and hoped to go together, but it did not happen. Nevertheless, when it comes to acts of worship such as haj and umrah, we must never leave Allah out of our considerations,” she said.
Lisa emphasised that Allah is the ultimate planner.
Being invited to the Holy Land, she explained, is not about waiting until you feel completely ready, but about seeking divine guidance and trusting that your path will be made easy.
The pilgrimage also taught her the true meaning of tawakal (placing complete trust in Allah), especially when it comes to letting go of the need to control everything.
”As women and household managers, we often feel that we are the ones organising everything. But there, we realise that ultimately, everything rests in Allah’s hands,” she said.
As an ambassador for Irkaz Travel, Lisa encouraged anyone feeling unsure about taking the step not to let self-doubt hold them back.
”If you feel hesitant or unsure, just proceed with your intention if it is meant for you, because Allah knows what is best for His servants,” she said.
