Tiong: M’sia’s international safety image key to tourist confidence

SIBU: Malaysia’s international safety image must be given due attention as it influences foreign tourists’ confidence in visiting the country, Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said.

He said national unity was important in projecting a positive image of the country and that all parties should work towards strengthening it.

“Greater attention should be given to strengthening the economy, addressing poverty and improving the well-being of the people.

“Publicity alone cannot solve problems. We must find ways to address the people’s problems,” he said at the 2026 Navy Veterans Samudera Heritage Charity Gala Dinner here last night.

The event was organised by the Sarawak branch of the Royal Malaysian Navy Veterans Association (PVTLDM).

At the event, Tiong announced a contribution of RM20,000 to the association to support its efforts to look after the welfare of veterans. — BERNAMA
