Two women injured in Brickfields restaurant fire

KUALA LUMPUR: Two women were injured, one of whom suffered a fractured left arm, in a fire involving two double-storey restaurant premises along Jalan Tun Sambanthan in Brickfields early this morning.

Operations commander Md Fuad Selamat said the Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 3.04am, with firemen arriving at the scene four minutes later.

“The fire completely destroyed the ground floor and damaged 50 per cent of the upper floor,” he said in a statement.

Fuad said a 34-year-old woman sustained injuries to her right hand, while another woman, aged 24, suffered a fracture to her left arm.

“Both victims were taken to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for further treatment.

“The cause of the fire and the total losses incurred are still under investigation,” he said.

The operation involved 35 firefighters from the Hang Tuah fire and rescue station, assisted by personnel from the Pantai and Seputeh fire stations.
