KUALA LUMPUR: Japan’s Miyu Yamashita created tournament history on Sunday by becoming the first golfer to successfully defend the Maybank Championship title at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC).
The world No. 4 held her nerve in the final round to record a four-under-par 68 for a four-day total of 22-under-par 266.
She also clinch the coveted Tiger Trophy and take home the US$450,000 (RM1.96 million) winner’s purse at the US$3 million LPGA Tour event.
