SEPANG: Pedro Acosta won a tricky MotoGP sprint race at the Petronas Grand Prix of Malaysia today, as poleman Alex Marquez and Ai Ogura were left to rue what could have been.
Acosta clinched the win in 20 minutes and 4.09 seconds as Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo) came in second (+0.578s).
Aprilia Racing’s Marco Bezzecchi (+1.310s) completed the podium.
Alex (BK8 Gresini) and Ogura (SuperFile Trackhouse) both got off to a strong start at Sepang Circuit and were 1-2 early in the opening lap as Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo) dropped down to fourth.
The white flag was shown in the third lap as rain fell on certain sectors of the circuit though most riders opted not to switch bikes.
Alex, however, crashed in the third lap, leaving Ogura in the lead with Acosta second.
Ogura, however, faded with three laps to go and was overtaken by Acosta, Marc and Bezzecchi.
