Bursa urges caution as Mega Fortris rout deepens

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd has issued a trading reminder on Mega Fortris Bhd following a prolonged share-price collapse, urging investors to exercise caution as unusual trading activity continues.

The exchange drew attention to the security seals manufacturer’s sharp share-price decline and its Oct 30 response to an unusual market activity (UMA) query.

In that response, Mega Fortris said it was unaware of any recent corporate developments, rumours or reports that could explain the unusual trading activity, apart from a previously disclosed court order.

The company also said it could not determine whether the matters referred to in the court order had any connection with the unusual share-price movements.

“Notwithstanding the company’s reply to the UMA query, there continues to be unusual activity and price movement in the company’s shares,” Bursa Malaysia said in its trading reminder on Friday.

The exchange urged investors to consider all available information before making investment decisions involving Mega Fortris shares.

The reminder came as Mega Fortris extended its sharp decline for a third consecutive trading day, falling 49 sen, or 26.78 per cent, to RM1.34 by the midday break.

The stock had earlier plunged as much as 28.42 per cent, or 52 sen, to an intraday low of RM1.31.

Friday’s decline marked another bruising session for the company, whose shares had nearly quadrupled in value earlier this year before the rally abruptly unravelled.

Mega Fortris began 2026 at 87.5 sen before surging 294.29 per cent to a record closing high of RM3.45 on Oct 27 and 28.

Since then, its shares have plunged 61.16 per cent in seven trading days, wiping out about RM1.78 billion in market value.
