KAJANG: Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s lawyer, Muhammad Farhan Shafee, arrived at Kajang Prison at 2.15pm today, following the payment of the former prime minister’s RM50 million fine.
A white Audi carrying Farhan was seen entering the prison complex through its main gate. He smiled when approached by reporters but did not comment.
It was reported earlier that Najib had settled the RM50 million fine imposed on him in the SRC International Sdn Bhd case at the High Court Registry in Kuala Lumpur.
On Sept 18, the former Pekan MP received a conditional pardon from His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, allowing him to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest until Aug 23, 2028.
Najib, 73, was sentenced to 12 years in prison and fined RM210 million after the Kuala Lumpur High Court found him guilty on July 28, 2020, of seven charges involving the misappropriation of RM42 million belonging to SRC International.
