KUALA LUMPUR: i-City is working with TwinMatrix Technologies to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) companion for its planned 500-unit AI Living residential development, targeted for completion in 2030.
Called i-Ris, the digital assistant will use Nvidia’s digital-human technology and computing capabilities to help residents interact with their homes and coordinate connected services.
TwinMatrix, an Nvidia Inception company, will use Nvidia ACE technology to develop a lifelike digital avatar designed to communicate naturally with residents.
Nvidia’s graphics processing unit computing will support the AI systems that link different home technologies.
The initiative aims to integrate smart-home systems, domestic robots, wellness devices and other services through a single interface.
TwinMatrix founder and chief executive officer Eric Liu said the development would go beyond connecting individual devices.
“We want to create an intelligent environment where residents can interact naturally with their homes, while the underlying systems work together to support their everyday needs,” he said.
The planned companion could help residents organise schedules, access information and coordinate household services.
Future applications could include directing domestic robots, adjusting home settings and providing wellness information using authorised wearable-device data.
The system will draw on TwinMatrix’s expertise in spatial AI and digital twin technology to connect the different platforms and account for the physical environment in which residents live.
Nvidia’s startup and partnership manager for developer programmes in Asia Pacific South Pang Pei Yi said digital-human technology and AI computing could make interactions with connected services more intuitive.
i-City director Datuk Eu Hong Chew said the project would distinguish AI Living from conventional developments.
Development of i-Ris will occur in stages, starting with conversational functions and resident services before expanding into robotics, wellness and smart-home integration.
