KJ: Melaka BN-PN cooperation springboard to recapture Putrajaya

MELAKA: The political cooperation between Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the Melaka state election serves as a crucial battleground to solidify Malay-Muslim consensus ahead of the 16th General Election, said Khairy Jamaluddin.

The former Umno Youth chief said the electoral pact extends far beyond state administration, framing it as the catalyst for a nationwide movement to recapture the federal government.

“Our stakes in Melaka are not just about deciding who becomes the Duyong assemblyman or who forms the state government.

“We want to bring this blue wave all the way to the General Election and recapture Putrajaya,” he said while making rounds in Duyong alongside BN candidate Datuk Mohd Noor Helmy Abdul Halem.

Following a joint electoral outing in Negri Sembilan, Khairy said that Melaka is set as the proving ground to determine whether grassroots voters can fully translate the alliance between Umno and Pas into decisive ballots.

To secure victory, he urged supporters to vote across coalition lines based on seat allocations, instructing BN supporters to back Pas candidates in seats like Bukit Katil while calling on Pas members to rally behind BN in Duyong.

“It is not enough for us to merely declare or recite this cooperation.”

“We must prove it. If there is a Pas candidate, Umno members must cast their votes for them.”

Khairy dismissed suggestions that the Malay-majority pact sidelines non-Malay and non-Muslim communities, pointing out that both BN and PN encompass multiracial components including MCA, MIC, and Gerakan.

“Do not worry, because this is not merely a combination between Pas and Umno,” Khairy added.

“This is an alliance between BN and PN. It is not just for the Malays, but for the future of Malaysia.”
