Martin declared ‘fit to race’ after FP1 evaluation

SEPANG: Jorge Martin has been given the green light to continue racing at the Petronas Grand Prix of Malaysia this weekend.

The Aprilia Racing rider, who passed a first medical on Thursday, was again evaluated after free practice one (FP1) on Friday morning, which he also passed.

“After his review on Friday morning, the No. 89 rider (Martin) has been passed fit to race at Sepang,” said MotoGP in a brief statement.

Martin, who is 10 points adrift of championship leader Marc Marquez, was 20th (+1.835s) from 22 riders who took to the track on Friday. Marquez topped the timesheets on 1:58.912s.

Martin had fractured his right wrist after crashing during the sprint race at Phillip Island just six days ago.
