Najib’s family still awaiting update on house arrest, says daughter

ALOR GAJAH: Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s family had prepared to welcome him home last Friday, but their hopes were dashed when the former prime minister remained at Kajang Prison.

His daughter, Nooryana Najwa, said the family was disappointed as they had made preparations in anticipation of his return but were still waiting for the authorities to provide an update on the implementation of his house arrest.

“My family is very disappointed. We had made preparations to welcome my father home last Friday.

“Unfortunately, our hopes have yet to materialise. Datuk Seri Najib is still at Kajang Prison, and we are waiting for the latest developments from the authorities,” she said.

She was speaking to reporters while helping with the campaign of Barisan Nasional candidate for the Machap Jaya seat at FELDA Tun Ghafar Baba Hutan Percha here today.

Nooryana said she had also visited her father yesterday and that Najib was deeply disappointed with the latest developments concerning the implementation of house arrest.

Despite the situation, she said, her father continued to pray and hope that the appropriate action would be taken soon.

“We managed to meet him yesterday, and he was very disappointed, extremely disappointed.

“However, he continues to pray and hope that the necessary and appropriate action will be taken in the near future,” she said.

On the latest developments, Nooryana said the family had yet to receive any new information and was still waiting for further action.

She added that Najib’s legal team had made clear its position that action relating to the implementation of house arrest should be expedited.

Meanwhile, Nooryana said that despite his disappointment, Najib continued to encourage his children who were involved in politics to remain committed to BN’s campaign throughout the Melaka election.

She said her father wanted them to continue supporting the party despite the various challenges he was facing.

“As a Puteri Umno executive council member and information chief, I will certainly continue to help my party throughout the campaign.

“Despite his disappointment and the various challenges he is facing, he continues to encourage my brother and me, who are active in politics, to keep campaigning and supporting the party.

“My father’s encouragement is among the reasons I continue to go to the ground and assist BN’s campaign efforts in Melaka ahead of polling day,” she said.
