PUTRAJAYA: Transport Minister Anthony Loke’s resignation pledge has come back into focus following former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s release from Kajang Prison to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest.
Loke is understood to be at his office today to chair the ministry’s post-Cabinet meeting.
As of 2.50pm, members of the media were still waiting outside the ministry to seek Loke’s response to the latest developments.
On Sept 29, Loke said he had submitted his resignation letter to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim but was asked to remain in office temporarily.
The decision was in line with DAP’s stance opposing Najib’s house arrest.
Today, Umno confirmed that the RM50 million fine imposed on Najib had been paid at the Kuala Lumpur High Court, paving the way for the implementation of house arrest under the terms of his conditional pardon.
