Negri Sembilan MB seeks audience with Tuanku Muhriz ahead of state assembly sitting

SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim is seeking an audience with Yang di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir to present the state government’s plans for the next state legislative assembly sitting and the tabling of the 2027 state budget.

He said he was still trying to secure a suitable date and time for the audience.

“So far, I have not received the consent (for an audience with Tuanku Muhriz), but I am making efforts to meet him,” he told reporters after the opening of Perpatih Fest 2026 at the Negri Sembilan State Museum grounds here today.

Also present were state legislative assembly speaker Datuk Seri Dr Awaluddin Said, state secretary Datuk Mohd Zafir Ibrahim, and Negeri Sembilan Museum Board director Aziz Mohd Gorip.

Ismail said the state government is maintaining its original plan to hold the assembly sitting on Nov 26, followed by the tabling of the state 2027 budget on Nov 27.

“As I mentioned before, the dates for the assembly sitting remain as planned for five days, starting with the opening on Nov 26 and the tabling of the budget on Nov 27,” he said.

Commenting on views that the state assembly could face automatic dissolution in February 2027 if the sitting is not held as scheduled, he said the matter would be examined based on the state constitution.

Earlier, various parties expressed views that the assembly could be automatically dissolved in February 2027 if no sitting is convened within the stipulated timeframe under the state constitution.

The situation requires the state administration led by Ismail to resolve the proclamation issue involving the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan as soon as possible to allow the sitting to proceed and the state 2027 budget to be tabled.
