Selangor records 83,787 voluntary repatriation cases, highest nationwide

SHAH ALAM: Selangor recorded the highest participation under the Migrant Repatriation Programme 2.0 (PRM 2.0), with 83,787 undocumented immigrants participating and RM42.61 million collected as of Sept 30.

Selangor Immigration acting director Mohmad Khusairi Kamarudin said the programme provides an opportunity for foreigners who have overstayed or breached pass conditions to return to their home countries voluntarily.

He said the Selangor Immigration Department provides PRM 2.0 services across four locations to facilitate applications, namely in Shah Alam, Port Klang, Kelana Jaya, and Kajang.

“As of Sept 30, a total of 83,787 foreigners participated in this programme in Selangor, the highest number in Malaysia.

“The total collection under the programme amounted to RM42,614,240,” he said at a press conference here today.

Khusairi said of the total participants, 60,913 were adult men and 20,293 were adult women.

He said the programme also involved 1,375 boys and 1,206 girls.

“The total collection comprises RM40,926,500 in compounds and RM1,687,740 for Special Passes,” he said.

PRM 2.0 provides an avenue for foreigners who committed specific immigration offences to arrange their voluntary return to their countries of origin.

Participants must produce valid travel documents and return tickets to complete the repatriation process.
