The annual Deepavali bazaar in Little India here has drawn shoppers from Singapore seeking festive goodies.

The bazaar, strategically located in the city centre, offers a wide range of goods, including traditional snacks, clothing, home decorations and women’s accessories.

Singaporean T. Murthy, 78, said he and his family would visit the bazaar every year to stock up on traditional snacks.

“There is a wide variety of snacks here, including murukku, and they are also much cheaper than in Singapore. That is why I enjoy shopping here for Deepavali goodies.”

The bazaar also brings together people from different communities, many of whom came for the festive atmosphere.

Trader S. Candrika, 39, who sells traditional Punjabi clothing, said her stall was popular with customers from various ethnic groups.

“Our Malay and Chinese customers wear them when visiting their Indian friends or for events with an Indian traditional theme.”

Another trader, J. Sathis, 31, said despite the unpredictable weather, he expected more visitors to the bazaar ahead of Deepavali on Sunday.
