BN manifesto launch: PN shows support, signals united front for Melaka polls

AYER KEROH: A sea of blue and green filled the grounds of the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) this evening as supporters and party machinery from Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) gathered for the launch of BN’s manifesto for the 16th Melaka state election.

An estimated 5,000 supporters and grassroots campaign workers gathered at the convention hall for the launch, reflecting the scale of the two coalitions’ mobilisation ahead of the state election.

Supporters carrying BN’s dacing flags and PN banners began arriving as early as 3pm, filling parking areas and surrounding access roads around MITC.

Supporters from both coalitions filled the venue, their flags and banners reflecting the cooperation between the two sides as their grassroots machinery came together in a public display of unity ahead of the state election.

Melaka BN chairman Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh unveiled the election manifesto at 5pm. Drawn up with input from Perikatan Nasional, it outlined the alliance’s socioeconomic pledges, welfare schemes and infrastructure plans ahead of polling day.

Rather than contesting against each other in multi-cornered fights, the two coalitions negotiated seat allocations across the 28 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) constituencies.

BN is contesting 23 seats, while PN is contesting the remaining five.
