Frontken benefits from higher semiconductor demand as Q3 net profits rose 25pct

KUALA LUMPUR: Frontken Corp Bhd’s net profit rose 25 per cent to RM57.25 million in the third quarter ended Sept 30, 2026 from RM45.83 million a year ago.

The increase was mainly driven by stronger performance across its core businesses and effective cost control measures.

Revenue for the quarter increased 12 per cent to RM181.04 million from RM161.87 million previously, supported by higher contributions from its subsidiaries in Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia, the company said revenue from its Malaysian subsidiaries rose 18 per cent, mainly driven by higher sales from supply-related activities in the oil and gas business.

Its Singapore operations benefited from a recovery in semiconductor volumes, while revenue from its Taiwan subsidiary increased 11 per cent.

On a like-for-like basis in New Taiwan dollars, revenue from Taiwan would have recorded a stronger growth of 24 per cent.

The company said the improvement was mainly driven by higher semiconductor demand and strong customer orders in Taiwan.

Frontken paid a single-tier dividend of 2.0 sen per ordinary share on Sept 17, 2026, amounting to RM36.26 million for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2026.

For the nine months ended Sept 30, 2026, Frontken’s net profit increased 33 per cent to RM147.33 million from RM110.39 million in the corresponding period last year.

Revenue for the period rose 24 per cent to RM557.76 million from RM450.86 million, supported by stronger contributions across its three key markets.

On its prospects, Frontken said it expects semiconductor activity to remain strong, supported by long-term demand for artificial intelligence (AI), high-performance computing, automotive electronics and advanced manufacturing.

The company said it is enhancing operational capabilities and undertaking selective capacity expansion to capture emerging growth opportunities.

It added that closer supply chain collaboration and stronger customer relationships would support its participation in the semiconductor industry’s long-term growth.

“In the oil and gas segment, industry activity remains supported by continued requirements for asset reliability, maintenance and operational efficiency, creating opportunities for specialised service providers,” it said.

The company said its performance in the segment was supported by ongoing project activities and demand for engineering and maintenance services.

“Against this backdrop, the group has delivered encouraging results, supported by project activity and demand for engineering and maintenance services.

“The group maintains a cautiously optimistic outlook for the remainder of 2026, underpinned by continued requirements for engineering, maintenance and asset-support services,”

The company added that it would continue prioritising operational efficiency, selective capacity expansion and disciplined margin management to strengthen its long-term competitiveness.
